It’s Cold Gin Time Again…
It’s Memorial Day Weekend in the U.S. Although the summer solstice isn’t for a few more weeks, and it’s going to be cold here at the Rock and Roll Reclaimed farm this weekend, I’m ready to get started on summer. In the words of one of the great orators of our time, KISS’ Paul Stanley:
“When you’re down in the dumps, and you need something to bring you up, there’s only one thing that’s going to do it the way you want it.”
This advice from 1975 Paul Stanley didn’t age particularly well, and I suspect that 2021 “health-nut” Paul Stanley wouldn’t promote the use of liquor to “bring you up”. Nevertheless, I thought I’d try some cold gin along with the new “Songs of Summer Playlist” that I put together. As a whiskey drinker, I've had the same bottle of Beefeater Gin in my bar for about 15 years. I decided to remove the seven layers of dust from the bottle and have it on the rocks with some lime seltzer. After all, “you know it's the only thing that keeps us together.”
It’s just ok.
If gin’s not your thing, perhaps you could try an ice cold wheat beer while watching a baseball game. That’s what I did last week on a trip down to Kansas City to see the Royals play the Tigers. This one’s a Boulevard Wheat, which you can get around this area.
Back to whiskey next time.
